The Workbench is a Singapore based graphic design and illustration studio founded by creative couple Ryan & Ella. We marry design with illustrations, working on a wide spectrum of projects from the outrageous & fun to the sleek & serious for clients anywhere in the world.
We believe the act of turning language into visuals is a very primal, powerful and effective tool for communication that transcends any language barriers.
Since inception in 2014, our purpose is not only to create visually stunning designs, but to create solutions that enable our clients to become better versions of themselves. Working closely with our clients in unison, we craft purposeful ideas and thoughtful solutions across all disciplines.
Ella loves to dress up in style, colours and patterns, while Ryan prefers being solemn and systematic. Together, they form a necessary paradox that create unique perspectives for every project, yet sharing one collective artistic language. We work with a tight knitted network of collaborators that includes writers, photographers, directors, developers and architects – enabling us to take on large scale projects that cover several creative disciplines.
While other studios of our generation are rapidly looking to expand, we are really pragmatic and made the conscious decision to remain small. As a team of two, clients are ensured they are speaking directly with the person designing their brief and never through a proxy - which is something we find very important as a communications practice.
