The strengthening of the Singapore Writers Festival’s position as a platform for an exchange and confluence of ideas inspired the clean and versatile logo. The results are a multitude of interpretations and applications, reflecting the dynamic and forward-looking direction of the festival.
Congruous to the act of writing and artistic creation, the logo yields multiple readings. It can represent anything depending on the rotational angle — book, flag, wave, ‘W’, etc. The new design is simple, scalable and instantly recognisable.
Colour plays a central role in communicating the festival brand. Providing a colour palette instead of a fixed brand colour allows playful interpretation of the design for various applications. It makes a strong impact across applications, whether online, on print or on physical collaterals.
The secondary festival colours are acceptable alternates for limited use to compliment the festival on typography, paper etc. The secondary festival colours must not be used on the logo or treated as a main primary colour of the festival.
